Summer Internships

Spring/Summer YouthGROW Internship

The REC is now seeking 2-4 interns to work with our youth urban agriculture project this summer. As a summer Intern, you will work alongside teen program participants and will help plan curriculum and logistical details for the summer program.  Interns will then provide support to staff throughout the 7 week summer program and will engage in youth mentorship and support.

We are seeking candidates who have youth development, education, and/or farming or gardening experience.  Ideal candidates will be dependable, flexible, culturally competent, open to new experiences and energetic.  This unpaid internship can be done for college credit.  If you have any of the above skills or a passionate desire to develop them please apply.

Interns must be available to work 10hrs/wk in May and June and 25 hrs/wk in July and August.

Farmers Market Internship

The REC Farmers Market Project is entering its second full season with Saturday markets running June-October in Main South and Great Brook Valley  We are looking for an intern to work with us for 10 hrs/week in May to help with marketing, outreach, research and other responsibilities as needed.  From June to August, the intern will work 15 hrs/week to provide general support for the Farmers Market Project Coordinator and other staff.

We are seeking someone with marketing and basic graphic design experience.  Familiarity with the regional food system and environmental justice issues is a plus.  This internship can be done for credit.

To apply for either internship, send cover letter and resume to Food Justice Program Director Casey Burns at education@recworcester.org by April 15th.

If interested in any of the above, email the corresponding email address telling us what your interests are and your time viability. Also, remember to include your resume if you have one. You can also call us at the REC Office: 508-799-9139.

Do the above have too large time commitment requirements? Check out our Volunteer Opportunities HERE

Documentary Internship

This internship’s goal is to produce a documentary style observation of the YouthGROW program. YouthGROW is entering its seventh year as a unique, dynamic, youth-empowering, consensus-based program that fosters leadership in its participants and affects positive change in the community. We always answer questions about how the program works, what our discussions are like, and how youth react to the program, and it is never an easy explanation, so in order to show the world how our program works we want to make a documentary about it. The best candidate for this position is familiar with video editing and recording.

Time Requirements: The time requirements for this internship are flexible, but the project will require self-reliance and independent time-management to accomplish the documentary in a timely fashion.

If interested, contact Julius Jones:
