In partnership with the City of Worcester, REC coordinates the delivery of compost to community gardens. The compost is produced by the Department of Public Works with the leaves collected during the fall. Each community garden receives this fertile soil annually to make new beds during the spring.
The UGROW program also supports community garden groups interested in producing their own compost using kitchen scraps and garden waste. We offer training to groups on building and maintaining composting areas. With fresh compost every year, Worcester’s community gardeners have been able to produce beautiful plants and award-winning vegetables. |
